A standard Barred Plymouth Rock will generally live for approximately 6-8 years, but have been known to reach 10-12 years. Plymouth Rock's are classed as a 'dual purpose' breed, meaning they are good for both egg production and as a meat bird. The Barred Plymouth Rock is a common breed that is found all over the world.
The Rhode Island Red is an American breed of domestic chicken. It was developed in the late nineteenth century in Massachusetts and Rhode Island by cross-breeding birds of Oriental origin such as the Malay with brown Leghorn birds from Italy.
